Herndon is located in western Fairfax County.  In 1879 when the Town of Herndon was incorporated, Herndon was defined by the railroad surrounded by a number of dairy farms.  Today, Herndon is the third largest town in Virginia and home to more than 23,000 residents.  Despite all of the change and growth that has surrounded Herndon since it was established, Herndon has maintained some of its original small town character.  The original railway station still sits in the middle of town however the track have been replaced with the WO&D trail which extends from Rosslyn to Purcellville Virginia.

Surrounding the old railway station is the “old town” downtown area with some of the finest restaurants around.  Each summer, thousands enjoy a variety of free concerts held on the Town Green and every year residents celebrate Herndon with the Herndon Festival. Herndon is well situated on the western side of Fairfax County.  Here it is convenient to Dulles Toll Road, Dulles Airport and the Reston Town Center.
